Combine an addictive device – the BlackBerry – with a popular social network – Facebook – and what do you get?  I’m not sure I want to know, but thanks to a new development, we’re about to find out.

Alright, I’ll jump on, even acquiesce. I have viewed Twitter as more of a social phenomenon kept neatly secret within the tech community – a bubble in which the brainiacs converse. I have watched and chuckled and dismissed. I may change my mind.

We all know that BlackBerry users can become just a tad bit absorbed in their devices, but that trait aside, they’ll now have less of an excuse for being late – Superpages.com just launched a local mobile application specifically for the BlackBerry.

Nearly a year of litigation between Research In Motion and NTP Inc saw settlements offered and rejected, patents overturned, and the popular Blackberry service laying face up in a guillotine watching the keen blade of an injunction that could have cut off thousands of users in the United States.

US District Court Judge James Spencer declined to issue an immediate injunction that could have disrupted millions of BlackBerry users’ service.

The Patent Office has rejected all five patents held by NTP, just ahead of a hearing on Friday that could still shutdown Research In Motion’s BlackBerry service in the United States.
