Combining the word “zombie” with “granny” is an extremely easy way to get my undivided attention. What can I say, folks — I’m an easy lay when it comes to video games featuring the undead, regardless of how cartoony and over-the-top they might be. i-Free Innovations has recently released “Zombie Granny Origins” for the Android, an addicting little puzzle game that is sure to win over those who love zombies, grannies, and, well origin stories. It’s an extremely odd combination, but from the looks of things, they work together very well.
The game, which is designed for children of all ages, appears to be your typical trial and error puzzle adventure. Perhaps the coolest part of the description on Google Play is this:
Touch Arcade: A Stylish Take on Trial and Error Puzzles! This is an unusually good looking game!
An unusually good looking game? That’s easily one of the funniest attempts at self-promotion I’ve encountered in quite some time. I’m assuming that, in the eyes of the individual who penned this description, most mobile games don’t look that hot. And while I think that “Zombie Granny Origins” looks pretty darn cute — that’s right, I said cute — I honestly don’t feel is has an artist edge over its competition. It looks good, mind you, but not unusually good.
Check out the official product description for the zombie-slaying app:
In this crazy zombie killer game, you control the objects in the environment to solve the puzzle and destroy all the zombies as fast and as efficiently as possible. Travel through exciting different worlds in your quest to exterminate the walking dead, polishing your skills and collecting all the hidden puzzle pieces to set the best hi-score.
Think through the puzzle then use your fingers to cut the ropes and break the chains with just the right timing. Watch closely as your actions put the scene and fireballs in motion. If done just right, you will BBQ those zombies and watch them all turn into black ash!You can also create passages by destroying obstacles and bring the action to life with the help of exploding boxes and shooting cannons. Zombie Granny also includes an easy-to-use Level Editor that is unlocked once you have gone through the “Pirate Ship” and “Police Station” levels, allowing players to create their own original puzzles.
Use your mind and your fingers to fight your way through an army of the undead and annihilate them all to get to your main target – The Zombie Granny! Are you ready for the challenge?
In addition to 45 levels of zombie-crushing mayhem, the game also features three completely different worlds, three unique boss battles, plenty of weapons, and, my personal favorite, an easy-to-use level editor. Sounds like a pretty sold package to me.
“Zombie Granny Origins” is now available for both Android and iOS users, so, technically speaking, you don’t have a reason not to check it out. If you’re curious how the game looks in action, take a look at the handy video embedded below.
