Zayn Malik debuted a new–very large–tattoo on Friday, and not all of his fans approve. It’s not so much the tattoo that’s garnering their disapproval, but the location instead.
Zayn Malik inked his face.
According to a report from Us Weekly, Malik got a tattoo of a large bird. The image of the bird–its wings raised as though ready to take flight–covers a huge portion of the right side of his face.
Zayn Malik’s bird has a ribbon spanning its breadth, with “M.O.M.” printed on it. Although many people will assume this is in honor of his mother, there may be an underlying meaning to the letters.
Zayn will soon debut more than just his new tattoo. He has an album coming out–his first since leaving One Direction. The album is titled “Mind of Mine,” which easily translates into “M.O.M.”
Taking to social media to unveil his ink, Zayn captioned the photo, “Like I would.”
Reactions from some of Zayn Malik’s fan aren’t particularly positive.

It’s clear that Zayn Malik’s fans love his face, and feel strongly it should have remained unscathed. No matter the quality of the art, they like his face best with nothing on it.
What’s your impression of Zayn new tattoo? Do you think his face was the best placement for the artwork?
Zayn Malik’s new album, “Mind of Mind,” comes out on March 25.
