Yahoo announced the creation of a new web comedy series called “Ghost Girls,” which will debut in Spring of 2013 on Yahoo Screen. The show is the result of a partnership among Yahoo, Shine America and Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite Productions.
The show follows two young female “ghostbusters,” and stars Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci. Check out the trailer:
The show was created by Jeremy Konner, Lund and Blasucci, who also serve as executive producers. Black and Priyanka Mattoo are executive producers, and Konner is directing the series.
“‘Ghost Ghirls’ is the funniest idea for a TV show that we’ve seen since I’ve been in the business,” says Jack Black. “Jeremy Konner is an electrifying director, and Amanda and Maria are dynamite comedic talents. I’m very proud to be associated with such a powerful project.”
“‘Ghost Ghirls’ is a rare creative concept that brings together some of Hollywood’s best and established, as well as up-and-coming performers and storytellers,” says Vivi Zigler, President, Shine 360° & Digital, Shine America. “It’s a very funny ride and we believe Yahoo! is the perfect partner to help us garner wide exposure for this special series.”
“Our users come to Yahoo! Screen for their daily dose of comedy and we’re excited to bring them ‘Ghost Ghirls,’” said Erin McPherson, Yahoo! VP and head of video and originals. “This series will also have fun celebrity cameos that our users enjoyed so much in Yahoo! originals ‘Burning Love’ and ‘Sketchy.'”
