  • TMZ and several other news outlets are reporting that former WWE and WCW wrestler Sean O’Haire committed suicide on Tuesday. According to local police, O’Haire was found in his bedroom in South Carolina with a red rope tied around his neck. His father found the body and called 911.

    He was 43 years old.

Sean O’Haire, whose real name is Sean Haire, made his professional wrestling debut with World Championship Wrestling in 2000, where he was subsequently named Rookie of the Year. O’Haire teamed up with Chuck Palumbo, and the pair ultimately became the WCW’s last championship tag-team.

The WCW was bought out by the World Wrestling Federation (currently known as World Wrestling Entertainment.) O’Haire became part of the WWE in 2001. He introduced wrestling fans to his character, The Devil’s Advocate, in 2003. O’Haire took on a dark persona and dressed in a long black trench coat. The Devil’s Advocate urged followers to break the law and cheat on their spouses. His famous line was, “I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.”

O’Haire retired from professional wrestling in 2004 and became interested in MMA fighting and kickboxing. He became a celebrity hair stylist in 2012. This is not the first tragic death of a professional wrestler. Over 200 professional wrestlers have died at a young age since the early 1990s.
