Though the writer/director is now 77, Woody Allen hasn’t slowed down in recent years. In the past five years he has written and directed critically acclaimed movies such as Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Whatever Works, and Midnight in Paris. Though Allen has slowed his acting appearances, he is now brushing up on his acting skills in the upcoming Fading Gigolo.
The movie stars Allen as an aging pimp, with character actor John Turturro playing a new gigolo. Turturro (who is most famous for his roles in movies such as The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and the Transformers series) has written the screenplay for Fading Gigolo and is directing the flick.
The movie will be featured at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival, which this week released a trailer for it. Seen below, the preview shows that Fading Gigolo could be similar to Woody Allen’s own movies, complete with sardonic humor and a romanticized view of New York City.
