When Lena Dunham thanked Chad Lowe during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes last night, it took the audience a moment to get the joke. For those of us watching from home, it may have taken a little longer. But the reason had nothing to do with some moral support the actor gave the “Girls” creator; rather, it had to do with a very infamous slight he received from then-wife Hilary Swank when she won an Oscar in 2000.
Lowe got the joke, however, and took to Twitter to chime in after Dunham had accepted her award.
