The Drama League has happily announced that their dear friend Whoopi Goldberg will be hosting their 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway. This year’s benefit gala honors Neil Patrick Harris, the Golden Globe Nominee and Emmy Award winner currently on the television show “How I Met Your Mother.”

The Drama League of New York has served as a not-for-profit arts advocacy and education organization since 1916. The League has thrown annual Broadway celebrations since 1984 with past honorees including Angela Lansbury, Liza Minnelli, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Audra McDonald.

Whoopi Goldberg is of the small order of artists who have won Academy, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Awards, and has incorporated her Broadway musical start in popular film productions such as Sister Act. She has produced and starred in a number of plays and won the Tony Award for producing Thoroughly Modern Millie. She is currently a great addition to the television talk show The View.

Whoopi Goldberg’s cheeky personality and insightful point of view is a perfect fit for the festive black-tie gathering of 500 of New York City’s top celebrities and art supporters who will celebrate Harris’ musical theater career in true Broadway musical form. Neil Harris has starred in notable productions such as Rent, Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Assassins and more.

The Drama League’s 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway will be held on February 3, 2014. Ticket inquires can be fulfilled by calling (212) 244-9494.
