What’s Going On With Shailene Woodley?

Young actress Shailene Woodley first stole our hearts and our sympathies in her role as a pregnant teenager named Amy Juergens on a popular show about the complications of teen parenthood. No, not that other crappy show about teen parenthood, but the good one! The Secret Life of the American Teenager served as the platform for Woodley’s stardom. Over the course of the series, Amy is faced with the hardships of teen parenthood and relationships, but still maintains a child-like innocence throughout the series, thanks to the talents of Woodley. But what’s been going on with our sweet Shailene nowadays?

Now that ‘Secret Life‘  has come to an end (the final episode aired in June of 2013), Woodley has been continuing her career in a different direction. Woodley will be starring in the upcoming film Divergent, a movie based on author Veronica Roth’s novel of the same name. Shailene Woodley will be playing the role of Beatrice Prior, a teenager who is threatened by an authoritarian leader set out to destroy Pryor for not placing into one of the five established factions within the society (which is set in a futuristic dystopia of Chicago).

In her new role as Beatrice Pryor, Woodley has had to perform many dangerous stunts during the filming of Divergent. In one scene, Woodley was required to stand in front of a wooden target and have knives hurled at her. It was later revealed that Woodley had sustained several injuries while filming various stunts for the upcoming movie. To the amazement of many fans, Woodley is perfectly ok with her injuries and is taking them all in stride:

“I have a scar on my chest, a scar on my hip, but all good battle wounds. It’s so much fun! And they’ll go away in like five years. The cool thing is I got to do some stunts and that never happens. I feel so cool about it,” reported Woodley.

The film is set to release in 2014.
