“Veronica Mars” gained a cult following akin to the one “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” had, and the role made Kristen Bell into the star she is today. Now, after nearly seven years off the air, the characters are about to be reunited on the big screen thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign.

“This project has been a labor of love for everyone involved—me, the cast, my producing partners,” creator Rob Thomas said in a statement. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the Kickstarter backers. This movie wouldn’t have happened without them.”

Thomas co-wrote the script and served as director. Most of the original cast returned for the film, which raised the initial goal of $2 million in just ten hours on the crowdfunding site.

The film will focus on Veronica’s return to Neptune for her 10-year class reunion after moving to New York to pursue a career as a lawyer. But her return is double-sided, as she also decides to help out her former love Logan, who has been accused of murdering his girlfriend.

“Nine years of radio silence and yet I still kind of knew I could count on you,” Logan says.

The film hits select theaters on March 14.
