Funny-girl Kelly Oxford, who has garnered quite a Twitter following with her cheeky sense of humor and way with words, has just sold a script to Warner Brothers for a six-figure advance.
The writer, whose collection of humorous essays Everything Is Perfect When You’re A Liar will be published this fall, is about to become a big name in Hollywood. Her script–which is already being compared to movies in the vein of Juno and Bridesmaids–is called Son Of A Bitch and centers on a young woman whose wild ways don’t stop when she gets pregnant. She’s also had pilot scripts grabbed up by the likes of CBS and NBC.
Dry and deliciously sarcastic, Oxford uses her 140 characters on Twitter well, commenting on celebrities and the adventures of being a wife and mom. Judging on what I’ve seen from her so far, I’d say it’s a fair bet we won’t have another Whitney Cummings on our hands (gag).
