'Titanfall' on Xbox 360 Delayed to March 25

Titanfall is one of the most-hyped games of 2014 so far. The game's marketing promises it will revitalize the stale console shooter genre and bring Call of Duty-style gameplay to the latest Microsoft console. Gamers playing Titanfall on Xbox 360, however, will have to wait a few weeks to join in.

EA announced this week that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall has been delayed to March 25. The Xbox One and PC versions of the game are still on schedule to launch March 11.

Though the Xbox 360 version of the game will almost certainly be the best-selling among platforms for the title, it's clear that the Xbox One version of Titanfall is the lead version EA and Respawn are promoting. More cynical gamers might suggest that the delay is a marketing effort by EA and Microsoft to push Xbox One sales, which have been lagging behind the PlayStation 4.

With no proof of such a conspiracy, however, gamers will have to take EA at its word and assume that Bluepoint (the studio in charge of the Xbox 360 port) needs a few extra weeks to cram Titanfall into a form that can run on the 360. The notion that EA is delaying a title rather than releasing a broken version of it (which the publisher did with Battlefield 4) might also show just how much the publisher is counting on on Titanfall's success.
