Tiger Woods is having a fairly divided week.
The golf star is at the center of a scandal after it was reported that he had an affair with Amanda Boyd–ex-wife of fellow golfer Jason Dufner–while he was still in a relationship with Lindsey Vonn, but the rumors haven’t stopped him from shooting his best game in months at the Greenbrier Classic on Thursday.
Woods ended up in second place with a 4-under-par 66 after having a not-so-great year on the course, something that hasn’t escaped the attention of those who wondered whether he’d lost his–pardon the pun–drive. Tiger says he feels like he’s getting back to his old self, no matter what everyone else thinks.
“People think I’m crazy when I say I’m close but I felt like I was close. This past week was a good week of practice and today I hit the ball well all day until a couple of tee shots at the end, tugged a couple,” Woods told PGATour.com.
Tiger is accused of having a torrid affair with Amanda Boyd while he was still with Olympic athlete Lindsey Vonn, and the news made headlines earlier this week due to the fact that Woods and Vonn were friendly with Boyd and her ex, Jason Dufner. Photos have surfaced online of Vonn and Boyd on the sidelines of the course, supporting their significant others together during happier times, but Vonn has not commented on the allegations. Tiger Woods released a statement through his rep vehemently denying that he cheated on Vonn, but sources have told several media outlets that he and Boyd are currently in a relationship and that things are serious. Vonn, meanwhile, posted a photo in the midst of it all showing an airport scene with the caption, “Excited for a fun weekend!”
