The Big Bang Theory has proven to be very popular among TV watchers. It must be unsurprising then to see the TV critics agree.
Reuters reports that The Big Bang Theory walked away with the best comedy award at the Critics Choice TV awards Monday evening. The sitcom beat out other strong comedies for the award, including Parks and Recreation, Louis and New Girl. The Big Bang Theory co-stars Kaley Cuoco and Simon Helberg also walked away with best supporting actor in comedy awards.
The Big Bang Theory did not walk away with all the comedy awards though. Louis C.K. won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Louis. Best Actress in a Comedy Series went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her starring role in HBO’s Veep.
Moving from comedy, Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad tied for the Best Drama award. Breaking Bad lead Bryan Cranston came out with the Best Actor in a Drama Series award for the second year in a row. Best Actress in a Drama Series went to Tatiana Maslany of BBC America’s Orphan Black.
As for best movie or mini-series, HBO’s Behind the Candelabra walked away the top honor. The film’s leading star – Michael Douglas – won Best Actor in a Movie or Mini-Series. Elisabeth Moss won Best Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series for her leading role in Top of the Lake.
