Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to federal fraud charges stemming from the falsification of loan documents to inflate their income before “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” began airing in 2009 and of lying about their new income in order to file for bankruptcy after the show became a hit

The couple are also accused of falsifying loan documents and the charges leveled against them include conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, and bankruptcy fraud. Teresa has maintained their innocence, however, and released a statement last month when she and Joe were taken into custody.

“Today is a most difficult day for our family. I support Joe, and as a wonderful husband and father I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me. I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the Government as quickly as possible.”

The Giudices said nothing in court, but rather let their attorneys do the talking for them. A source said they wanted it that way.

“They were relieved they could stand up in court and plead not guilty through their attorney,” the source said.

After leaving court on Wednesday, Giudice moved on to Wayne, New Jersey for a book signing at a boutique. Her latest cookbook, “Fabulicious: On The Grill”, is in stores now.
