UPDATE: It’s here!
Android users shouldn’t have too much longer to wait for their chance to get in on all the Temple Run 2 fun. The game, which is tearing up the iOS charts, should be coming to Google Play this week.
Android Community confirmed with the game’s devs that the projected launch date for Android is January 24th (Thursday).
Temple Run 2 launched for iOS last Wednesday in New Zealand, which tipped the eventual U.S. launch. It hit the U.S. App Store on January 17th and was soon the most popular app around. At the time of the iOS launch, Imangi said that an Android version would be coming soon, but didn’t provide any specifics.
Temple Run 2 for iOS is the top free app in the App Store, and has held that position since about 12 hours after its launch last Thursday. The app, which has been downloaded 20 million times already, is also the second-highest-grossing app in the App Store. Like its predecessor, Temple Run 2 is free-to-play, but features plenty of in-game opportunities for paid add-ons.
In the days leading up to then (and even around that time), Android users should be careful that they’re downloading the real thing. At least two fake Temple Run 2 apps has made their way to the Google Play Store, receiving ‘thousands’ of fake reviews and 4-5 star scores.
If you haven’t had a chance to play the game, it features “beautiful new graphics, gorgeous new organic environments, new obstacles, more powerups, more achievements, and a bigger monkey.”
