Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are the new official voices of Olympic Figure Skating on NBC. For years now Scott Hamilton, Sandra Bezic, and Tom Hammond have commented on both the Olympic trials and the actual games. Fans will soon be treated to some new commentators–although Hamilton will be waiting in the wings to make comments from the sidelines.
The Associated Press reports that the pair will be joined by Terry Gannon to host NBC’s figure skating coverage in the 2018 Winter Olympics, to be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Lipinski and Weir aim to keep their coverage of figure skating serious, but not too serious. Johnny Weir claims their style will be “more like a conversation between us and the audience.”
NBC made the official announcement this past week about Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir being promoted to the head of the network’s figure skating broadcast team.

Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir aren’t just figure skating champions–and now commentators–either. The two frequently serve as fashion commentators at red carpet events.

Do you think you will enjoy Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir in the new broadcast roles as much as you liked Scott Hamilton, Sandra Bezic, and Tom Hammond? Or do you think Tara and Johnny should stick to commenting on fashion instead?
