Suge Knight was reportedly shot multiple times at an unofficial pre-MTV VMAs party hosted by Chris Brown very early on Sunday morning. The former Death Road Records CEO was said to have been led to an ambulance by police following the shooting. Family members and sources have since indicated that although Knight was undergoing surgery several hours ago, his injuries weren't thought to be life threatening.

It is reported that four shots were fired at approximately 1:30 A.M. inside 1 OAK's L.A. outpost. The party had started at about 9:00 P.M. Chris Brown indicated the start of the bash via Instagram with a captioned photo.

“We bout to turn the [f--k] up!!!!” he wrote.

That Instagram post has since been removed from Brown's account.

Following the shooting, Chris Brown was singing a completely different song.

Suge Knight took over the role as Death Road Records CEO back in the 1990s, alongside both Dr. Dre and The D.O.C. His iron fist method of running the company, however, wasn't taken to by the likes of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, who felt alienated by Knight. Suge Knight also found himself immersed in the East Coast/West Coast feud that that pitted Death Row and Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records against one another.

Suge Knight ultimately wound up facing a wealth of legal troubles and even a lengthy jail sentence that ended his run in the music world in the early 2000s. He clearly has his hand--or at the very least his interests--embedded somewhere in the music world these days, however. Otherwise why would he have been a guest at Chris Brown's party? Of course Brown doesn't have the best legal record either. His assault conviction--from beating Rihanna--landed him in prison for quite some time. Maybe the two bonded over jail house tales?

News will likely soon emerge as to Suge Knight's medical status following this shooting and his subsequent surgeries. Regardless of his past, people are no doubt united in prayer for his speedy recovery.
