Steely Dan founder Donald Fagen was charged Tuesday with assaulting his wife at their Manhattan home, according to law enforcement officials and court papers.

According to a report by CBS News, the 67-year-old former lead singer was charged after he allegedly shoved wife Libby Titus into a marble window frame Monday at their Upper East Side apartment, knocking her to the ground.

According to court papers, Titus, 68, suffered “bruising and swelling to her right arm, as well as substantial pain” as a result of the assault.

Charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment, Fagen’s publicist has yet to comment on the incident.

Fagen launched the band Steely Dan in 1972 with friend and guitarist Walter Becker. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and selling more than 40 million albums worldwide, the band ’70s classics like Reelin’ In the Years and Rikki Don’t Lose that Number.

According to the Associated Press, Fagen was released without bail Tuesday after a brief court appearance and was told to stay away from his wife.
