Disney and Star Wars have been in a harmonious partnership since 1986 when Star Tours became the very first non-Disney attraction to get it’s own ride. The ride was built and designed by a combination of Lucas Arts and Disney engineers at the enormous cost of $32 million dollars, which is double the cost of building the original theme park.
Since then, the partnership between the two have grown and now features a set of weekends every summer dedicated to Star Wars know as “Star Wars Weekends.” Here is what the website says about it:
“Star Wars Weekends is an annual special event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park that celebrates the legendary Star Wars Saga and the animated television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each weekend, you can join celebrities and characters for special shows, panels, presentations and more!”
This years Star Wars Weekends are at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park and run from May 18th to June 10th every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. All you need is a ticket to the park and you get in so go and enjoy!!!
Check out these great promo posters designed by Disney to promote the weekend. The guys over at Disneyandmore featured them there. Below the pictures are a couple of pretty funny videos that were made about the weekend.
