‘Star Wars Rebels’ Details Revealed in New Video

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm and Disney revealed that a new animated Star Wars series will make its debut next year. Titled Star Wars Rebels, the series is currently set to begin airing on the Disney XD channel sometime in the fall of 2014.

Few details about the series have come to light other than the fact that it will be set in the time between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

Today Lucasfilm revealed a few new details about Star Wars Rebels through a new production video on the Star Wars Youtube channel. The video reveals that the series will take place closer in time to Episode IV than Episode III. The tone, according to Executive Producer Greg Weisman, will also be closer to A New Hope. One of the main focuses of the series will be the formation of the Rebel Alliance, which will take place over a number of seasons.

“We’re going to show how the Rebel Alliance came to be,” said Weisman.

The rest of the video is about Weisman himself and his career. Weisman is best known as the creator of Gargoyles and was a producer on Young Justice. Calling himself a geek, Weisman reveals that the first Star Wars movies “blew [his] mind” and that Chewbacca is his favorite Star Wars character:
