Shirley Jones is probably best known for her role as matriarch of the Partridge Family, the sweetly wholesome blonde who ran the family band on ’70s television and gave the Bradys a run for their money.
But Jones has always been loathe to play those wholesome women–Partridge, Marian in “The Music Man”–because she herself is a highly-sexed bedroom-experimenter with a penchant for foul language.
In her new self-titled autobiography, Jones talks about her marriages, what she learned in the bedroom from her first husband (they had a threesome with another woman), and how her current husband loves her body even though it’s “old”.
“Luckily, Marty thinks I’ve still got a beautiful body, even though it is old, and every now and again I take all of my clothes off in front of him and shake my tits at him, and he loves it,” Jones writes in her book.
Jones talks about first husband Jack Cassidy at length, describing how he taught her everything in the sexual guidebook after she met him as a 21-year old virgin. Unfortunately, Cassidy was also unfaithful to her during their marriage and wasn’t the best father to their children. But Jones says she doesn’t look back in anger.
“Many people may say, ‘She was crazy. She did anything he wanted and it wasn’t good for her, wasn’t good for the kids, wasn’t good for the people around her,'” she said. “I’m going to get a lot of that … but it was my life and it was the way I wanted to live it.”
