Black Friday, a ritual when ravenous consumers hoard big-box retailers to secure their deals, is right around the corner, though Sears customers can now shop for doorbusters online.
Black Friday, which historically has occurred on the day after Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday of November), is often regarded as the beginning of the holiday shopping season.
In order to compete with other businesses, Sears Outlet Stores began selling products at advertised Black Friday pricing on November 21. The promotion runs through November 26, and will Sears will likewise match the prices of local competitor’s ads.
Bruce Johnson, president and CEO of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc., said in a press release, “with every retailer offering special low discounts right after Thanksgiving, shoppers get caught in a chaotic frenzy. We wanted to give customers an opportunity to shop confidently and know they have an opportunity to price match if the item they bought on our website is cheaper in a Black Friday ad.”
Johnson added, “at Sears Outlet Stores, consumers can find great deals on everything from home appliances and tools to lawn and garden equipment and sporting goods at significantly reduced prices. Now, they have the opportunity to save even more on products that are important to home and family life.”
