Since when does Sean Penn share information about his personal life? And why did he choose to tell Piers Morgan?

In a recent blog post for The Daily Mail’s Event magazine, Morgan spilled the beans that Sean Penn and Charlize Theron were indeed seeing each other.

It was rumored earlier this year that the two Oscar winners were seeing each after they were seen vacationing in Hawaii together. The rumor was further believed to be true after Theron attended Penn’s charity event as his date.

That charity event was the same place Morgan received information that the two were a couple.

On January 9, Penn told Morgan “I’ve got a secret to share with you, but you can’t tell anyone until tomorrow.” Penn continued to share that he owned 67 guns, but was having them melted down and then artist Jeff Koons would be creating a sculpture that would be auctioned off at Penn’s Haiti fundraiser. The real news, according to Penn, would be why he was having his guns melted down, which he wouldn’t share with Morgan until the time of the fundraiser.

Penn took to the stage and shared why he had his guns melted and turned into a statue. “I’m a self-proclaimed Alpha male who owns 67 firearms. But I’ve had my mind changed about guns by a strong woman, a beautiful South African woman,” said Penn. And with that Penn shared that he and Theron are indeed a couple.

At the after party Morgan told Penn, “Congrats on a great night. And congrats on Charlize too.”

Penn responded, “She’s a keeper, that’s for sure…well, I’ll do my best to keep her anyway!”

The love didn’t only come from Penn. Earlier in the evening Morgan told Theron, “I’m so glad you two have got together. Sean’s a great guy.” To which Theron responded with a smile, “I know.”

In other Sean Penn news, the actor’s homeless camp in Haiti will be clearing out the remaining residents by the weekend.

Rachel Beach, an aid worker with Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization who is helping with the relocation efforts, said the remaining residents have received, or will receive, $500 from a local bank to help with rent, $40 for transportation, and $110 to help ease the move.

The rent subsidy of $500 will end within a year. “This is not meant for a long-term solution. It’s kind of a first step. It’s to get them in a house where they can close and lock a door, secure their belongings and go search for a job,” said Beach.
