Rick Santorum won the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses and a nonbinding primary in Missouri on Tuesday. That’s four states he has now won, compared to Newt Gingrich’s one. Mitt Romney’s “inevitable” sweep to GOP victory now looks less set-in-stone.
Opinions on what Santorum’s victories mean vary. Liberals are split between a) celebrating the news, presuming he would offer no competition to President Obama in a general election, and b) bemoaning it as an outrageous affront to women and gays.
Conservatives either a) like it, as they support Santorum, b) like it, as they don’t like the “inevitability” of Romney foisted upon them, or c) hate it, because they too fear he could not beat Obama.
See for yourself:
A trifecta! Thank you Colorado! ow.ly/i/rUI5

Santorum wins Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota; Democrats rejoice.

YAY #Santorum!!!!!

I do believe that Rick Santorum would actually be worse than Obama.. There is nothing in his record to say he would decentralize.

I wonder if Santorum would get more or less support if he outright said he would impose a Christian caliphate?

Last night Rick Santorum swept three primaries. Meanwhile, former candidate Herman Cain swept three women off their feet! #jokeoftheday

The move of conservatives from Newt to Santorum can be easily explained: no debates. They always help Newt and hurt Santorum.

Rick Santorum is just a scared Catholic boy trying to hold it together. I don’t like him, but I get him.

I’d rather have Newt than Santorum. Newt is full of shit, but Santorum is full of hate. #p2

I love how Santorum’s wins last night are played off as nothing more than protest votes against Romney and Gingrich. Gotta love politics!

If Santorum ends up winning the nomination and then the election I hope the Mayans were right.

Let’s face it, Santorum has no chance of winning the general, not with his stance on homosexuality.

The fix is in… Romney doesn’t have the fire in the belly. Newt is unelectable. Santorum doesn’t have a chance. 4 more years of hell await.

NOT impressed with Santorum’s 3 wins last night w/ only about 2% of population showing up to vote. The 2 major parties are fading.

I can only imagine how deep Romney will reach into his money pits to destroy Santorum. He can’t win any other way. #decision2012
