Sandra Bullock is about to rake in about $70 million for her role in the hit film Gravity. Starring alongside the very handsome George Clooney in the film that is up for 10 awards at Sunday’s Oscars, she was guaranteed $20 million by Warner Bros. when she signed on. In addition she is under contract for 15% of theatrical revenue. Since Gravity has earned $700 million, and is expected to soon top $750 million, she will soon get a payout of an additional $50 million. That’s not a bad paycheck at all.

So how did Bullock manage to pull off this kind of a pay day? Some think it’s because she was fresh off her Oscar win for The Blind Side. Plus, Angelina Jolie had just dropped out of the film. That gave Sandra Bullock an extra edge.

Gravity is a science film drama directed, co-written, co-produced and co-edited by Alfonso Cuarón. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star as astronauts involved in the mid-orbit destruction of their space shuttle. The film depicts their attempt to safely return to Earth.

Gravity has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress for Sandra Bullock in her role as Dr. Ryan Stone. These are just three of ten Academy Award nominations the film has received.
