Rosemary’s Baby was a novel written by Ira Levin before it became a cult classic in the horror film genre. The novel and the film adaptation both made their first appearances in the 1960’s, and have been frightening generations of pregnant women ever since. The terrifying tale is going to be gaining another adaptation this May, this time in the form of a television miniseries.

NBC will be airing a four-part miniseries starting on May 11, 2014, which will certainly make for an interesting Mother’s day viewing. It will run until May 15, with a new segment being shown each day. Each of the episodes will be one hour long. The series will feature Zoe Salanda as Rosemary, and Patrick J. Abrams as her husband.

This version of the Levin’s tale will center around a young American bride, Rosemary, who moves to Paris with her new husband. The couple settles into an old apartment and make plans to start a family. Everything seems to be going swell until Rosemary becomes pregnant. Stranger and stranger occurrences begin to happen, and Rosemary must figure out if she is part of a larger conspiracy, or if it is all in her head.

The trailer (shown above) sets the creepy mood for this psychological horror that made the original book and film so popular, and people are responding positively to it, for the most part. Twitter users, as usual, made sure to have their opinions heard in 140 characters or less.

It will be interesting to see if the hype continues as the “due date” draws near. Will you be tuning in to watch the series? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
