Ronda Rousey has quickly moved up in the world of Mixed Martial Arts to become one of its biggest stars, but now she’s moving on to other pursuits; namely, the movies.
Rousey has signed on to work with Sylvester Stallone in the third installment of his action series, “The Expendables”, and Stallone couldn’t be happier. The action star tweeted the news on Tuesday and simultaneously gave Victor Ortiz–who will also appear in the film–a shoutout. The film will bring back Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Mickey Rourke, and will add on Steven Segal.
Rousey was thought to be in the running for one of the “Hunger Games” movies after she signed on to the William Morris Agency, but this will be her first acting role. As of now, she’s signed on to be a coach for the 18th season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, and says it’s been one of the most difficult things she’s ever done.
“I just felt like any kind of heartbreak or triumph, whatever they’re going through, I share in it,” she said.
Rousey’s opposing coach for “The Ultimate Fighter” is Miesha Tate, her longtime rival. The two reportedly “hate” each other and filming has reportedly been made more difficult because of the drama between the two. They’ll face off in the Octagon on Dec. 28 at UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva II in Las Vegas. The show airs on Fox Sports.
Ronda Rousey will show championship form in Expendables 3! So will multi hampion Victor Ortiz!
