This time of year, it might seem like the majority of Americans are nacho crunching, beer loving, football fans to the extreme. However, for a large subset of the American populace, the most interesting details surrounding the Superbowl are not, in fact, which two teams will be facing off. Instead, many Americans eagerly await the announcement of who will be entertaining those few audience members who are more interested in catchy new commercials and musical escapades. For fans of the album “Blurred Lines”, the recent announcement that Robin Thicke will be performing for the ESPN Pre-Super Bowl party was a welcome distraction from all of the recent discussions concerning QB stats and play off seed positions.

Along with Robin Thicke, Kendrick Lamar and Jermaine Dupri will be entertaining the crowds on January 31st at the Lower Manhattan’s Pier 36, located just down the road from MetLife Stadium where the Super Bowl will be played just a few days later on February 2nd.

The ESPN performance isn’t Thicke’s only excitement in January. He will also be performing at this year’s Grammy Awards on January 26th in Los Angeles, and apparently, he is counting down the days.

As if that wasn’t enough time in the national spotlight, on February 8th Robin will be joining Daughtry, the Barenaked Ladies, and other headliners in a Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios. The concert will kick off a parade through the streets of the park, paying homage to New Orleans esque celebrations.

Although he is the son of prominent actor Alan Thicke and vocalist Gloria Loring, Robin remained a behind the scenes guy in the world of music until the release of his first album, “A Beautiful World”, in 2003. With his most recent album, “Blurred Lines” blaring around the world, it’s no wonder that Thicke is juggling such a hefty performance schedule in the coming weeks.
