If you’ve ever gotten a divorce or known someone who has, you might have noticed that initially someone in the relationship tries to get the other person back, and their attempts usually last from when the union first ends to the first sign that things are probably done for good.
And that’s probably where Robin Thicke is right now–the-realizing-that-things-might-be done-for-good-stage–as he recently went from trying to get his wife Paula Patton back to taking off his wedding ring.
If you’ve followed the Thicke Patton saga so far, then you know the singer has been making some very public statements about his marriage, like this one:
“Never stop believing and you never stop loving,” he said in a show at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. “And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Take care of your mom, take care of your kids and good things will come to you.”
But apparently, those kinds of statements nor all the flowers he’s been sending have softened Patton any, as she remains estranged from the 37 year old singer. And in New York recently, Thicke was spotted without his wedding ring, which could be a sign that he’s finally moving on.
On Friday, Thicke gave his audience another speech about relationships, and by the tone of it, you could tell he was a bit desperate and possibly on his last leg of trying to get Patton back. “We got to learn to forgive each other, learn to love each other,” he said. “No matter who it is in your family or relationship, cause you’re always going to need your friends and family.”
When the couple first split, they sent out a joint statement that said they’ll always be friends, which is important since they have a three year old son named Julian. “We will always love each other and be best friends,” read the statement. “However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”
And at this point it looks like the separation will lead to a divorce, as Patton has shown no signs or mentioned to the press that she’s even considering getting back with Thicke. Too bad for him.
