Robert Downey Jr. doesn’t skimp when it comes to showering the one he loves on her birthday, and that includes making sure she has a bacon cake to round out the festivities.

The “Iron Man” actor threw his wife Susan a 40th bash at Cavallo Point Lodge in California over the weekend, holding the party in the ballroom–which he’d had decorated with purple lights, white roses, and photos of Susan–for many of their celebrity friends including Justin Theroux, Jason Bateman, Joel Silver, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jon Favreau, Maya Rudolph, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.

A fireworks show ended the night, but the next day, the guests who had stayed overnight were treated to brunch from two different food trucks before the big finale was wheeled out: the bacon cake. The monstrosity consisted of maple bacon, chocolate bacon, bacon bits, bacon jam and vanilla cake.

“It was a great weekend for Susan, and Robert went all out to make sure she knows how special she is,” a source told E! News. “Around 50 of their closest friends came up for the weekend and stayed at the hotel in historic houses. It was a very relaxing weekend and there was a lot of time for people to catch up.”

Wonder if Downey gave his wife bacon deodorant for her 40th?
