  • Rima Fakih plead no contest Wednesday in a Michigan drunken driving case. Fakih is the first Arab-American to win the tile of Miss USA and was crowned in 2010.

She was arrested in December after a breathalyzer test put her blood alcohol content over twice the legal limit.

After she left the Detroit courthouse she said she was having a good day on her Facebook page and told the press, “You learn, you pay your price for making mistakes and you move on. I’m very happy I can put this behind me.”

She initially claimed that she had not been drinking on the night of her arrest but an open bottle of champagne was found behind her driver’s seat.

The police said that she was going 60mph in a 30mph zone and was weaving in and out of traffic.

A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing. Fakih is mandated to return to court on May 9th for sentencing where she could face up to three months in jail.
