Rihanna has a bad reputation for being late, so fans at her Tuesday show in Manchester, England were probably not too surprised when she showed up an hour after the show was supposed to start. Not surprised, but angry.
When the 25-year old singer hit the stage, she was promptly pelted with potato chips (“crisps” to those across the pond) by the frustrated ticket holders.
“This is next-level,” Rihanna said. “There’s a good crazy and there’s a bad crazy. When you throw s*** up here, that’s an epic fail … Cut that s*** out. Really? Chips?!”
The controversial singer also showed up three hours late for a Boston show back in May, much to the ire of her fans. To make matters worse, that was a make-up show after she canceled on the city in March, claiming she had laryngitis.
Rihanna grabbed headlines earlier this year after her “777 Tour”–which involved her flying around the world on a jet with 150 fans and journalists–turned out to be a giant waste of time for those involved. The singer was reportedly late many of the times she was supposed to appear and didn’t give the journalists access for interviews the whole time, instead leaving them on the jet in a close-quartered, sleep-deprived mess.
