It won’t star Val Kilmer and it may not focus on lasers, but NBC is reportedly set to reboot the 1985 cult hit Real Genius for the modern age.
Deadline reports that Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Sony TV are teaming up to bring an updated version of the 80s flick to NBC. Apparently a “single camera comedy,” the new Real Genius “centers on the relationship between a rock star-like genius…and a sheltered, naive co-worker.” Basically, it’ll be a workplace comedy with elements from the original film.

Craig DiGregorio (Workaholics) and David King (Parks and Recreation) will pen the script.
You can check for yourself, but initial reactions are mixed, to say the least.
So basically they're turning #RealGenius into a warmed-over US #TheITCrowd with the vague poopy smell of Happy Madison?

Real Genius is a near perfect movie. It doesn't need to be made into a TV SHOW! http://t.co/BU4rXaA3Vs This. Is. Not. Okay.

The funny thing about Real Genius is that it's from an era when assassinating people from the sky was assumed to be something villains did.

What do you think? Excited? Think it’s a terrible idea?
