Is Princess Eugenie of York completely Americanized? It doesn’t seem as though she is. She was spotted in New York City at a New York Knicks basketball game on Sunday, alongside actress Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg, but she didn’t appear to be having a very good time. Seeming distracted and a bit ill at ease, the princess looked like she was miles away from Madison Square Garden.

The princess has worked in the city for a few months now, and could actually be missing her family back in England. She works at Paddle8–an online auction house in Manhattan. Perhaps she’s missing all the royal preparations for the Christmas holiday.

Eugenie is no doubt missing her long time boyfriend, the very handsome Jack Brooksbank. Even though the two maintain a long distance relationship, it’s still nothing like being together.

“We spend a lot of time on Skype,” he said when recently speaking with the Daily Mail. “It’s great. We are still very much together.”

Princess Eugenie reportedly has a very trendy apartment in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, and she is said to have made quite a few new friends since moving to the city. That still doesn’t take the place of loved one from home–especially when home is such a long way away.

Hopefully Princess Eugenie’s glum look–in face only as she was stylishly dressed–will turn into a smile if she travels back to England to visit her family and her boyfriend for Christmas. While it’s uncertain if that is the princess’s plan, it appears as though it should be. Of course it might simply be that basketball isn’t her thing. True Americanization comes via a love for baseball instead. Isn’t that a far more favored American pastime?
