Nintendo announced today that Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White version 2 are scheduled to release in Japan this June. Nintendo will follow up with the European and North American release in autumn.
The titles are for the DS rather than 3DS, but are still playable on both systems due to 3DS backwards compatibility. Fans of the franchise are upset about not seeing their favorite Pokemon in 3D:

The titles were unofficially announced over the weekend on Pokemon Smash, The Pokemon television program in Japan, with the official follow-up today. No additional details were given other than larger character art of the new Pokemon, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem (pictured at top).
Twitter reaction is mixed. Fans sound overly excited about yet another installment of the franchise, while critics complain about everything there is to complain about:
