  • After the critical debacle that was directors John Lasseter and Brad Lewis’ impossibly misguided sequel “Cars 2”, it’s good to know that Pixar is headed back to the well of originality for their next endeavor. Not that there’s anything wrong with the studio mining its past glories for future accolades, mind you. However, if they end up as drab and lifeless as the aforementioned follow-up to their 2006 box-office smash, they’re probably going to lose my business. I don’t expect them to care about this, of course, but I thought I’d just put it out there.

In order to prepare movie-goers for Pixar’s upcoming adventure “Brave”, another trailer, as well as a nifty new clip, have found their way online. Personally, I think the movie looks remarkably cool, and, chances are, I’ll actually take in a screening when it arrives in theaters this summer. It will have to be a matinee, because sitting in a theater filled with snotty children and their inattentive parents will likely cause yours truly to have some sort of cinema-related aneurysm.

    From the Google+Reader”>official synopsis:

Set in the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland, Disney•Pixar’s “Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus andQueen Elinor. Determined to change her fate, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin, surly Lord Macintosh and cantankerous Lord Dingwall, unleashing chaos in the kingdom. When she turns to an eccentric Witch, she is granted an ill-fated wish and the ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her resources—including her mischievous triplet brothers—to undo a beastly curse and discover the meaning of true bravery.

Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, “Brave” features the voice talents of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, Kevin McKidd, and Craig Ferguson. The film is expected to bow in North American theaters on June 22nd, 2012. The trailer, as well as the latest clip, reside below.
