Penelope Cruz is mourning the death of her father, Eduardo Cruz, who passed away early Thursday at the age of 62.

Hello! magazine’s sister publication, Hola!, broke the news after an uncle of Penelope Cruz confirmed Eduardo’s death.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, but Hola! reports that he suffered a heart attack and had a history of heart problems.

According to the media outlet, Eduardo Cruz was in La Manga, Spain, where he lived with wife Carmen Moreno and their 3-year-old daughter, Salmaat, at the time of his death. The couple reportedly manage a beauty salon together in the picturesque, seaside town.

Penelope Cruz, 41, is the eldest of three siblings born to Eduardo from his relationship with Encarna Sanchez. The couple also had a son, singer Eduardo Cruz, and a younger daughter, actress Monica Cruz.

This likely comes as a shock to Penelope Cruz, who is said to have been very close with her late father, even bringing him to premieres when she was first starting out.
