  • Sorry ladies, it looks like another hot, athlete is off the market.

Currently the world’s top ranked tennis player, Novak Djokovic, and his girlfriend, Jelena Ristic, have gotten engaged.

Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Television of Serbia) confirmed that the two got engaged in Monte Carlo earlier in the week.

As the future groom, where better to personally announce your impending marriage than Twitter?

Ristic also took to her Twitter to thank all fans and friends who have been congratulating her for the great news.

Once the news broke, of course the rumor mill started. The first rumor is that Andy Murray will be best man at the wedding. Even though this is a possibility, it was only said because Murray’s name was mentioned a few times to the Serbian press.

Djokovic and Ristic, both Serbians, have been together since 2005.

Tennis fans know Ristic very well, as both a fashionable presence at Djokovic’s matches and the director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation. The foundation helps improve the lives of children in Serbia by giving them hope and the means and ways to make their dreams for the future come true.

After becoming a top-10 player in the Association of Tennis Players in 2007, Djokovic hit it big in 2011 when he passed Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and became the number one ranked player. He won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open in 2011, only losing six matches the entire season.

Djokovic has held the No. 1 spot for the greater part of two years now, with Federer reclaiming it briefly in 2012 after winning Wimbledon.

    Congrats to the happy couple!
