Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are newlyweds, and in many ways–the best ways, in fact–their honeymoon is still in progress.

As with many newly married couples, the question often posed to Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder is one about having children. Do they plan to have kids–and if so, how long do they plan on waiting?

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ian Somerhalder offered an excellent answer to the rather personal question.

“Oh, hell yes! Absolutely,” he said–joking about how he actually likes the process right now far more than the result.

“You know, it’s all about practice. It’s not practice makes perfect–it’s perfect practice,” he joked.

Nikki Reed, with a husband as hot as Ian Somerhalder, no doubt completely agrees.

The Twilight star and the Vampire Diaries hunk tied the knot back in April, and while they plan to have children, they’re practicing–as Ian said–and serving as parents to their many pets.

Ian was recently questioned about allegedly professing his love for ex-girlfriend and former Vampire Diaries costar Nina Dobrev. It turns out his Twitter account was hacked, so there’s no scandal regarding his ex-girlfriend making its round as fodder for the media.

Nikki Reed surely knows how her husband feels about her anyway, so she likely wasn’t worried in the least. After all, they’re busy these days, “practicing.”

Ian Somerhalder says he and Nikki are excited about adding real children to their mix, however. He says he’s so excited, in fact, that he might not even wait for Nikki Reed to carry his baby.

“I’m actually pregnant right now,” he joked.

This newlywed phase of marriage is a lot of fun for most couples. When do you suppose Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed will actually settle down and start a family? Are they waiting for “practice” to simply make “perfect?”
