Khaled sweetened the deal by presenting the rapper and former American Idol host with a giant diamond. The rock is a $500,000, 10-karat, radiant-cut ring, according to an E! Online report.

“Nicki Minaj. I’m at MTV. I’m gonna be honest with you. I like you. I love you. I want you. I want you to be mine,” he said in the video proposal. “I’m here at MTV because it’s a worldwide network. The only reason I am not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you’re busy. I’m gonna be honest with you; I want to marry you.“

The DJ goes on to explain why the two would make a great couple.

“We got the same symptoms; we both suffer from success,” he said. “You out there touring, you out there hustling, you out there making music, you out there winning. I understand. That’s why I feel like you need a man like me in your life.”

Some viewers thought the proposal was a prank or a publicity stunt, but Khaled told US Magazine on Friday that it was no joke.

“I want to marry her! I was serious,” he said. “She can take her time and think about it. At least she knows how I feel now.”

Minaj is taking her time responding to the video; she has yet to publicly comment on it.

Khaled and Minaj collaborated on Busta Rhymes’ “Twerk it” and are both signed to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money record label.
