A quick look at Twitter this morning is all the indication that one needs to know that Sunday wasn’t the National Football League’s greatest day. I saw my share of officiating tomfoolery while attending the Titans/Lions game, but the criticism is widespread throughout the league.
According to the Associated Press (via ESPN), the league and the locked out officials met on Sunday, but there’s not much in the way of word on progress between the two parties as they try to reach a new collective bargaining agreement.
Meanwhile, teams and fans alike continue to express outrage by some of the calls being made. Here’s a small sampling of what you can expect to find on Twitter, regarding the issue:
Regular NFL referees need to be paid n brought back!! Eff Replacement refs
Rodeo clowns would make better NFL replacement referees.
I’m pretty sure the replacement NFL referees still have a higher approval rating than Congress.
“I just love the NFL’s new temporary referees!” #SaidNoOneEver
How much could the referees want that the NFL would ruin the game this way?
I always thought the referees were the worst thing in the NFL… I guess it gets worse! #bringbacktherealrefs!
NFL Replacement Referees Have Compromised The Game’s Integrity And League’s Position On Sports Betting http://t.co/fO5WkyBa
NFL referees are a lot like teachers, students never appreciate the good ones until they get stuck with some bad ones.
can they review the referees in general? RT @PatriotsLife: NFL will review Bill Belichick’s grab of referee http://t.co/Q7TH6xj1 (New Post)
Can’t wait for the real NFL referees to come back so we remember how they suck and get abused by egomaniacal coaches, too.
How many people today who hate Obama for his effort to redistribute wealth hate #NFL right now for not doing same with its referees
You can’t really blame the NFL replacement referees for all their mistakes. A lot of this stuff isn’t covered in Foot Locker Training.
