Nelly Furtado sang “O Canada,” the Canadian National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game this weekend, and since the questionable performance many people have chimed in with their opinion. Definitely not the worst rendition of the song in the country’s history, it certainly wasn’t the best, either.
On behalf of Canadians everywhere, we'd like to nominate Nelly Furtado's version of our great anthem as the worst play of day @TSN_Sports

Is Nelly Furtado having a breakdown?
That's about the worst performance of the Canadian Anthem I've ever heard…— Michael Wilbon (@RealMikeWilbon) February 15, 2016
Accompanied by flutist Tony Duncan, it seemed at times like Nelly Furtado was trying too hard in comparison to the sweet, organic sound of the flute. At other times it seemed like she was way off beat.
Known best for her hit song “I’m Like A Bird,” there’s no question that Nelly Furtado can sing. The question is, did she do the Canadian National Anthem justice?
Clearly some people thought she did just fine.
Really dug the Canadian anthem by Nelly Furtado with Tony Duncan. #NBAAllStarTO

Do you think Nelly Furtado butchered “O Canada” or did she give a stellar performance?
Incidentally, Ne-Yo sang the American National Anthem, and no one has launched any complaints about his performance.
