Natalie Portman has been the dream girl of many a young man’s fantasy, especially after taking roles in several comic book films and establishing herself as a true nerd’s nerd. And while her look hasn’t changed dramatically over the years–except for the awesome haircut she rocked as a kid in “Leon The Professional” and, of course, the buzz cut for “V For Vendetta”–she needed a change for an unspecified upcoming role, and went full-on blonde.

The 31-year old actress debuted her new look over the weekend, stepping out to a Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner for L.A. Dance Project with a slew of other stars.

“Natalie makes a beautiful blonde!” colorist Tracey Cunningham said. “She needed to make the change for an upcoming movie role, and using Redken’s Blonde Dimensions we achieved a gorgeous, multi-dimensional golden blonde.”

It’s a startling change for fans, but as we’ve always known about Portman, she’s gorgeous no matter what she does differently.
