Naomi Watts thinks everyone should just leave Renee Zellweger alone and stop speculating about her changing looks.

Zellweger has been the focus of intense media scrutiny recently after she stepped out looking nearly unrecognizable in October.

The SAG-nominated actress spoke to British InStyle and shared her opinion on the rumors about the Bridget Jones’ Diary star’s looks, which include speculation that she has undergone plastic surgery.

“[The backlash] was cruel and unnecessary,” she told the magazine, via E! News. “I saw a picture and I thought she looked great! She looked amazing! Leave her alone! You can’t win can you?”

Watts said she is not against plastic surgery and understands why women would want to go under the knife.

“I don’t have any judgment about [plastic surgery]; whoever makes that choice, that’s fine,” she said. “It’s not easy watching yourself get older, but when I look at two women in their fifties or sixties or seventies side by side, one who’s had surgery and one who hasn’t, I think one likes themselves a lot more and one looks more dignified and graceful.”

The 46-year-old actress said she would consider the possibility of having a little work done in the future, even though she hopes to stand by her current stance to age gracefully.

“I hope I get to stay being that woman,” Watts said. “But I would never say ‘never.'”

Zellweger also addressed the rumors in October, telling People Magazine, “I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
