Montana may become the first state to ban TikTok, going further than any other US government agency or jurisdiction.
The US has been cracking down on TikTok. Congress passed a bill banning the app from government devices following similar measures taken by a number of states.
According to AP News, the Montana House endorsed a bill, 60-39, that would ban TikTok entirely. The bill has already passed the Montana Senate, 30-20, and will go to Gov. Greg Gianforte once the House takes its final vote.
Passing the bill may just be the first step in a long legal process, however. Unless the US passes a nationwide ban on TikTok, any action taken by an individual state will likely meet with substantial legal challenges.
