Misty Copeland is engaged to Olu Evans–but actor Taye Diggs figures prominently into her romance, too.

No, this isn’t a sordid threesome. Taye Diggs actually introduced Misty Copeland to her man.

Olu Evans is Taye Diggs’s cousin. Taye pointed Misty Copeland out to him on the dance floor about 11 years ago in Lotus, a club owned by hospitality guru David Rabin.

On Thursday night, all the players in this game of love came together once again as David Rabin hosted an engagement party for Misty Copeland and Olu Evans at his piano bar, Jimmy at James. Taye Diggs, of course, was in attendance.

Misty Copeland is, of course, one of the stars of the American Ballet Theatre. Tomorrow she makes her Broadway debut in On the Town. Something new for Copeland in this performance is singing. She is a little nervous about making her singing debut on the Broadway stage.

“They didn’t audition me for anything,” she confessed backstage at the Lyric Theatre, an hour before rehearsal. “They haven’t seen me do anything. I hope I can live up to their expectations!”

Surely fiance Olu Evans and good friend Taye Diggs will be on hand to celebrate her big night.
