Miranda Lambert clearly has divorce on her mind. Just weeks after it was announced that she and The Voice coach and country music legend Blake Shelton had ended their marriage, she took the stage at the ACM Honors and sang about divorce.

It was Loretta Lynn’s classic song “Rated X” that Miranda Lambert belted out on stage Tuesday night. She also presented Lynn with the Crystal Milestone Award to mark her 50-year career in country music.

“Rated X” lyrics tell the story of a woman who finds her own personal freedom via divorce.

“Well if you’ve been a married woman and things didn’t seem to work out / Divorce is the key to bein’ loose and free so you’re gonna be talked about / Everybody knows that you’ve loved once so they think you’ll love again.”

Blake Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert, so she suddenly found that freedom. It’s uncertain yet if she really wanted it, however, as source claim she’s had a hard time coping since their split, amidst rumors that she cheated on him.

Miranda Lambert admitted recently that alcohol has been among her coping mechanisms since the divorce.

“I wish I’ve been drinking all day, I deserve it,” she said back on August 7. “I just got divorced.”

It surely wasn’t lost on anyone that Miranda Lambert was singing about divorce at the ACM Honors on September 1.

Do you suppose Blake Shelton caught that performance?

What do you suppose really happened between Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton that prompted him to file for divorce?
