Minecraft – Pocket Edition only features the classic version of the game which allows players to create and build in the world which is what catapulted the game to its current fame. There is no crafting or survival mode yet, but they should be coming in a future update.

The pocket edition was notable for being first released on Sony’s Xperia Play Android phone which had PlayStation gamepads buttons and touch pads for analog control. The game was then released to all other Android and iOS devices a few weeks later.

What’s super interesting is that the Pocket Edition features cross platform play between Android and iOS devices so Minecraft fans can play together on the go.
