  • Miley Cyrus will be doing an “MTV Unplugged” special this week, and according to E! News, she’ll be doing at least one song with the Material Girl herself.

The pairing isn’t exactly out of nowhere, as Cyrus and her racy VMAs performance last summer drew some comparisons to Madonna and her controversial early days. After a risque show with Robin Thicke that included a lot of grinding, twerking, and tongue-wagging, the former Disney Channel star was the talk of the web–and television–for weeks.

“How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it, Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance… anyone that performs, that’s what you’re looking for. You’re wanting to make history…Me and Robin the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now.’ What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later and people are still talking about it. They’re overthinking it,” she said last year.

There’s no word yet on which song the duo will perform, but the show is sure to draw in viewers on Wednesday night when it airs.

“The performance will showcase a more intimate side of Cyrus and feature surprise guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career, including several from her No. 1 critically acclaimed album, Bangerz,” MTV said in a press release last week. “Miley and her fans have always had an intimate and direct connection through her music, personality and no-holds-barred attitude and the Unplugged stage will serve as the perfect platform for her to show viewers what inspires and ignites her music and her passions.”
